vs. Italy (1:1) | World Cup | 2006 in Germany

The 2006 World Champion Italy did only concede two goals in the entire tournament. They also won all matches, apart from two, within 90 or 120 minutes. Just twice, they drew: In the final (1:1) vs. France and in their second group match (1:1) vs. the USA. Looking back, that is quite remarkable, given that the US on the other side, did lose both their other group stage matches (vs. Czechia and Ghana) and went home early. At the time, however, it was mostly one thing: A terrible match of football. The USA got on the scorecard by an Italian own goal. Both teams got a red card in the first half. It was a battle, really. One only remembered for its result today.

During that battle, the USMNT wore this shirt, which is a bit weird, too. For some reason, it has basically the Haitian flag as a stripe running down the shirt. Anyways, as I was browsing US shirts, I stumbled over it and it just cost 15€, so I just picked it up.
