Switzerland 2004/05

This is another matchworn Swiss shirt, worn in a friendly match, that I got for about 60€ online. It kind of replaces the first Swiss shirt I ever uploaded here, which is the same design, but was not matchworn.

Reading that first post on a Switzerland shirt on my blog, written in 2011, is slightly amusing in hindsight. First, I only paid 7€ including shipping for the non-matchworn version of this shirt in 2011. This gives you an idea of how cheap shirts would get knocked off on German ebay back then. It is also is in line with the rule of my early collection: "Never spend more than a tenner on a shirt", a rule that would simply not work anymore today. 

In that first post from 2011, I also tried to appear like someone that has any idea of football. I highlight Johan Vonlanthen as the most talented Swiss player and a future star that I really like to see grow in the past. Well, that has not aged well. Still in 2011, Vonlanthen moved from Red Bull Salzburg to Itagüí Ditaires in Colombia, the country he was born in. He only made it to five matches in Colombia, before returning and (barely) playing for the Swiss clubs at the bottom of the first or the top of the second divison since. He might have been a bright talent in 2011, but never made it as far as I was hoping for, apparently.

Now, back to the shirt, I am happy to replace my old one with this matchworn version, of course. It does feature just another Swiss FA logo and while it is otherwise nothing special, it's just always great to have a matchworn shirt.
