Unknown Player vs. Martinique (0:0) | CONCACAF Nations League | 2024 in Guadeloupe |
Guadeloupe is another French colony in the Caribbean and as it is typical for those, they are not a member of FIFA, but a full member of CONCACAF. They are quite good, too, making it regularly to the CONCACAF Gold Cup and even getting into the semi finals in 2007, beating Canada and Honduras on the way and just narrowly losing 0:1 to Mexico in said semi final. Not bad for a non-FIFA team!
As with Martinique, it was typically very hard to get a shirt of the Gwada Boys, as the team is known locally. But in 2024, they finally signed a deal with a company that was happy to market their shirts: Tempo. Weirdly, Tempo is a rather small Austrian company that otherwise only really sponsors the Cape Verde national team and Palestine (if you need shirts of Cape Verde, check out their homepage!). Naturally, I had to grab that opportunity and get myself a Guadeloupe shirt for 50€ roughly. That said, I can finally tick of the last Caribbean island that is a member of CONCACAF.
Oh, I forgot to mention the design, which is actually nicer than it does look on the first impression. There is a beautiful waterfall subtly printed into the fabric, that is hard to spot, but definitely makes the shirt unique and specia. But genuinely, Tempo shirts are all great!
