USA 2

John Agudelo (New York Red Bulls)
vs. Argentina (1:1) | Friendly | 2011 in USA

At some point in late 2017, a US documentary maker came to my then apartment in rural Germany. They just flew in from LA to interview me. They already did interview me, a bit more contextual, during the 2017 CONIFA Euros in Northern Cyprus, which the documentary movie focused on, but accidently overwrote their memory cards and thus lost the interview. That led them to a tiny rural town in Germany. I am still stunned letting me blurb was actually worth that, but apparently it was.

For the interview, we were sitting in front of my shirt collection and they, of course, wanted to see my US shirts. I only had one, the black one from this blog, which kind of disappointed me. They concluded that I "must really dislike US soccer". I don't, but it is frankly a bit hard to sympathize with it, too. I mean, there is Trump, there is the fact that I cannot get into the country, as I was in Iraq and Somalia, and then there is this weird league without a promotion and the fact they reject to call it football. They are not making it easy for me to like them. In fact, the only aspect of US soccer that I did really love was Jozy Altidore. I really rate him highly at his time at AZ in the Netherlands, but his career has only gone downhill since.

Anyways, this exchange with the US documentary movie makers made me look into US shirts again. And I quickly realise that there is another aspect of US soccer that I do like - their football shirts! Many of them just work very well, so I started shopping. This sash shirt was one of the first I got, for about 20 Euro online, and I am actually wearing it now at times.
