Me in front of Elizabeth Castle, Saint Helier, Jersey |
The Parishes of Jersey were or are an alternative selection from the Channel Island of Jersey, founded to play non-FIFA matches that the Jersey FA selection could not play in. Initially, that meant playing within CONIFA, but as CONIFA did start to crumble away in 2020, the team left the organisation later and is since trying to set up its own tournament. I think I have detailed the history of the PoJ team in my first PoJ post, so I will cut it off here.
I am not sure if this shirt was actually ever worn. I don't think it was. It was presented at the end of 2019, but then COVID hit soon and matches were called off. Then CONIFA crumbled away and there simply was no opposition for the team, which hasn't played since 2019, if I am informed correctly. However, the design, featuring a map of the island, is still lovely, which is why I took that shirt to the island, when I toured all the Channel Islands in the summer of 2023 on a four-week summer holiday. Obviously, I forgot to take a nice picture then and only realised when I already embarked my ferry to Guernsey. So if you wonder why there is mostly a port in the background of my picture - that's why. At least I was able to squeeze in Elizabeth Castle, which I did visit earlier that day, too, and which is guarding Saint Helier, the Jerrais capital.
