The 2021 AFCON was a bit of an unlucky one for Ivory Coast. They started by triumphing over a group with defending champion Algeria (who finished last in the group), Sierra Leone and Equatorial Guinea, which was once again a big surprise in the tournament. But after that hopeful start, they had to meet Egypt in the knockout stages and stumbled over them on penalties. That was really unlucky, given Ivory Coast was surely among the favourites of the tournament.

During that unlucky run, the team had an incredibly away shirt, which is a nod to the local Kente design worn and produced in Ivory Coast. When I visited Cote d'Ivoire in 2024 - which is actually a lovely country to visit, btw - this was probably the only away shirt that is on sale (often as fakes) across the country. For all the right reasons, well done, Puma! I paid about 50€ for this one, getting it after the AFCON when it went on sale.
