Unknown Player vs. Uganda (2:1) | World Cup Qualifier | 2023 in Uganda |
If you do follow this blog for a while now, you will be aware that I am a massive Guinea fan for reasons even I only partly understand. What I can say, though, is that I never regret supporting Guinea, as they keep playing fascinating football, have a range of exciting and skilled talents and still never make it to the very top of the African game, for some reason. That said, I am obviously over the moon finally adding a matchworn Guinea shirt to this collection. Even more so, as it is from one of these talented and underrated players - Ilaix Moriba in this case.
This shirt is from the World Cup qualifier match in Uganda, which Guinea won, despite Ilaix adding little to the game himself. It also is the first shirt I own that has the new 2026 World Cup patch, which makes it even nicer to add.
There is a big downside to this shirt, too, though: It is just so boring! I basically paid 100€ for a plain red tee that comes in a horrible material that feels like a shopping bag. If you like red coloured plastic, you will love it. If you have any taste whatsoever, you just have to hate this atrocity. Just to highlight how bad this material is: It has crinkles that will never flatten out, as it doesn't even hang flat when put on a hanger.
Still, it is a matchworn Guinea shirt and I got it for 80€ only from a German seller on a small ads page. He in turn got it via some contacts to Moriba that he had through his club RaBa Leipzig. So a geat deal, but still an objectively terrible shirt.
