In 2022, the Comoros did qualify for the AFCON for the very first time. A tiny island nation that somehow managed to qualify for the biggest tournament on the continent. Somehow means they managed to end up above of Togo and Kenya in the qualifiers, which is incredible solely due to the size of both countries. At the tournament, however, everything started as you would expect: A loss against Gabon and another one against Morocco. They were not thrashed and performed very respectable, but still, no luck. But then, they shocked the African football world, as they beat Ghana, one of the favourites to win the AFCON, kicking them out and advancing to the knock-out stage themselves.

This shirt is from this tournament. It is not as great as the Manaa design, in my opinion, but still a beautiful shirt. I love the gold details, the little Comoros flag on the arms and the crescent moon on the side of the shirt. The whole thing cost me about 50€, which is fair enough, and I am more than happy that Macron put these on sale. And the best news is: Comoros qualified for the AFCON 2025 once again now!
